Pierre-Emmanuel Rousseau est né en 1979.
Pierre-Emmanuel Rousseau met en scène La Clemenza di Tito, à Angers-Nantes Opéra, Le Barbier de Séville au Soirées Lyriques de Sanxay et au Teatro Regio de Turin. Parmi ses projets, nous pouvons noter des nouvelles productions de Tancredi et Semiramide de Rossini à Bienne et Rouen, Béatrice et Bénédict de Berlioz à Nantes et Rennes, Roméo et Juliette de Gounod à l’Opéra de Québec, La Rondine de Puccini au Teatro Regio di Torino.
Les saisons passées, Pierre-Emmanuel Rousseau a signé des nouvelles productions (décors, costumes et mise en scène) de Hänsel und Gretel d’Humperdinck, à l’Opéra National du Rhin (spectacle diffusé sur France 3), Gianni Schicchi pour le Blackwater Valley Opera Festival, La Clemenza di Tito, à l’Opéra de Rennes, Le Barbier de Séville à l’Opéra National du Rhin, à l’Opéra de Saint-Etienne et l’Opéra de Rouen-Normandie, Les Fées du Rhin d’Offenbach, au Grand Théâtre de Tours et au Theater-Orchester Biel-Solothurn. Il reprend, par ailleurs, Le Comte Ory à l’Opéra de Rennes et à l’Opéra de Rouen, et il crée une nouvelle production de Don Pasquale pour le Blackwater Valley Opera Festival.
Depuis 2013, Pierre-Emmanuel Rousseau développe une collaboration régulière avec le TOBS-Biel, où il signe les mises en scène, les décors et les costumes de Il Turco in Italia de Rossini, Viva la Mamma de Donizetti (spectacle repris en 2015 à Bâle et Trévise), le Comte Ory de Rossini, Don Pasquale de Donizetti. Il est invité par l’Opéra de Chambre de Genève pour Pomme d’Api / Monsieur Choufleuri d’Offenbach et Il Re Pastore de Mozart Avec l’Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, il imagine une mise en espace pour Schauspieldirektor de Mozart. Pierre-Emmanuel Rousseau met en scène Le Pays du Sourire de Léhar au Grand Théâtre de Tours, et Don Pasquale au festival de San Sebastian, ainsi qu’à l’Opéra de Metz, et l’Italienne à Alger au Blackwater Valley Opera Festival.
En 2010, Pierre -Emmanuel Rousseau signe la mise en scène et les costumes de L’Amant jaloux de Gretry (Opéra Royal de Versailles, Opéra-Comique), spectacle unanimement salué par la critique et le public. Ce spectacle a fait l’objet d’un DVD.
Après quatre premiers prix du CNR de Rouen, et une importante formation universitaire, Pierre-Emmanuel Rousseau assiste rapidement divers metteurs en scène, Jean-Claude Auvray, John Dew, Stéphane Braunschweig, Jérôme Deschamps et Macha Makeieff…
Pierre-Emmanuel Rousseau collabore avec des maestri aussi prestigieux que John Eliott Gardiner, William Christie, Ludovic Morlot, François-Xavier Roth, Jérémie Rhorer, Christophe Rousset, Marco Zambelli, Leonardo Garcia Alarcon… et des chanteurs aussi fameux que Karita Mattila, Sumi Jo, Kenneth Tarver,Véronique Gens, Frédéric Antoun, Stefan Margita, Hélène Guillemette, Julie Boulianne, Olga Peretyatko, Patricia Petitbon, Bernard Richter, Cynthia Makris, Richard Troxell, …

Pierre-Emmanuel Rousseau directs La Clemenza di Tito at Angers-Nantes Opera, Il Barbiere di Siviglia at Soirées Lyriques de Sanxay and Teatro Regio di Torino. For the future, he will direct new productions of Rossini’s Tancredi and Semiramide in Biel and Rouen, Berlioz’s Béatrice et Benedict, in Nantes and Rennes, Romeo et Juliette of Gounod at Québec, La Rondine by Puccini at Teatro Regio di Torino
In past seasons, Pierre-Emmanuel Rousseau has designed several new productions (sets, costumes and staging) of Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel, at the Opéra National du Rhin, as well as Gianni Schicchi for the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival, La Clemenza di Tito, at the Rennes Opera and Angers-Nantes Opéra, Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Opéra National du Rhin, at the Opéra de Saint-Etienne and the Opéra de Rouen-Normandie, Les Fées du Rhin by Offenbach, at the Grand Théâtre de Tours and at the Theater-Orchester Biel-Solothurn. He also took over Le Comte Ory in Rennes and Rouen, and he created a new production of Don Pasquale for the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival.

He is invited by the Geneva Chamber Opera for Pomme d’Api / Monsieur Choufleuri by Offenbach and Mozart’s Il Re Pastore. With the Geneva Chamber Orchestra, he imagines a semi-staging for Mozart’s Schauspieldirektor. Pierre-Emmanuel Rousseau stages Le Pays du Sourire by Léhar at the Grand Théâtre in Tours, and Don Pasquale at the San Sebastian festival, as well as at the Metz Opera, and Italiana in Algeri at the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival.
In 2010, Pierre-Emmanuel Rousseau makes the direction and the costumes of L’Amant Jaloux of Gretry at the Royal Opera of Versailles and at The Opéra Comique. This show is unanimously greeted by the critic and the audience. This production was broadcast on Mezzo and France2 and is now available on a DVD.
